Save on Back To School Shopping in Downtown Branson

Downtown Branson is home to more than 200 stores, specialty shops and boutiques. And the Missouri Sales Tax Holiday weekend is a great time to stock up on clothes and those important back-to-school items!

Missouri’s annual “back to school” state tax-free weekend happens every year on the first full weekend in August. During this three-day period, you can purchase school supplies, clothing and computers without paying the state portion of the sales tax (4.225%).

In 2017, the Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 4, and runs through Sunday, August 6.

Eligible items include:

  • Clothing and footwear, but not including accessories like watches and handbags.
  • Computers, computer accessories and most computer software.
  • School supplies, such as computer software, backpacks, art supplies, notebooks, calculators and other similar items.

Please note that the local and county portions of the sales tax are still collected in many places in Missouri, including the Branson area. This tax will typically range from 4-5% depending on the location of the retailer.
